Above is a picture of a clipping of the letter “e” from a newspaper….it is being projected using an Eyeclops.
That’s right….today’s science lesson is brought to you by the letter “e”. In continuation of our talk about living organisms, today I introduced microscopes to my students to become familiar with their functions. In order to familiarize ourselves with the microscopes, today my students completed a “e” lab.
Two students analyzing their notebook paper under the microscope.
Students were asked to clip an “e” from a newspaper and prepare a dry mount. Then they were asked to preform a variety of task using functions of the microscope, such as: the eyepiece, fine focus knob, coarse focus knob, diaphragm, and objective lens. On Friday, we will continue our discussions about microscopes begin identifying cells.
