Lesson One – Testing Week

We did it…benchmark testing is finally over. For those not aware, 8th graders all over Arkansas have been immersed in standardized testing with our yearly ACTAAP testing. We have spent at least 3 hours a day for the past four days taking reading, writing, and math test. While the effect on the kids is obvious, it has also taken it’s toll on us teachers as well. Our schedule has been completely thrown off kilter, meaning that we have not had any since of normalcy. So…with testing completely finished, here’s to bringing back normal. Yay!

Lesson Two – Prezi Should Come With Spell Check

This week my students have been working on a project that has required them to use Prezi to present information about a famous Arkansan. They have now been giving oral presentations for the past two days and after seeing majority of these presentations it has become very clear to me that Prezi needs to make an addition to their service…and that would be spell check. The Prezi above is just one example that shows the need for spell check on Prezi…keep in mind, I used Sam’s Prezi as the “poster child” for bad spelling, only because I’m confident in his abilities in class. But, as you can see he tends to not pay as much attention as me needs to on spelling.

Lesson Three – T-Shirt Design

WoodlandJr.High-RaceForTheCureAs most of you are well aware of, we have been working on our race for the cure fundraiser for over a month now. However, it’s not really a fundraiser until you have a t-shirt…well we are now an officially legit fundraising team. The t-shirts are coming and the design can be seen above. The order has been placed and the shirts should be off to the presses soon and we can expect them to show up about mid week…so until then, have a great weekend!
