Lesson One – More Cowbell

It’s time for the Chile Pepper, ladies and gentlemen. The Chile Pepper Festival is an annual event held in Fayetteville that includes a fun day of cross country running. It starts in the morning with an open 10k run and continues with races for college, high school, and jr. high teams. This is by far the biggest meet that we will participate in all year and all week we have been trying to recruit fans to come out and support us on Saturday. For every student that comes out on Saturday I will be giving them a free Woodland Cowbell to cheer us on and really geek Woodland XC. Our boys run at 1:00 and the girls run at 1:45. This event is so cool and it gives spectators a chance to watch elite and amateur athletes get out there and compete.

Lesson Two – The Box is Coming

All week I’ve been hearing about this stinking box and it’s anticipated arrival. Random kids have been telling me “the box is coming” in the hallways, I’ve had notes put in my box that say the same, and messages such as the one above keep appearing on my whiteboard. The only thing that I know about “the box” is that is related to band…and that it is obviously coming. Hopefully this mystery will be solved soon enough so that  I don’t have to hear the whispers, from everyone related with band, that say the box is coming.

Lesson Three – Time Flies

It seems like we have literally just started school and are not just getting settled in. As of today we are officially at the end of our first quarter of the school year…somehow this really caught me by surprise. What this means for students is that all grades must be to your teachers by today and that parent teacher conferences are coming up around the bend.

  1. Hey, my name is Faun and I am in EDM310 at the University of South Alabama. Well, all I can say is “I have a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell!” Seriously though, you sound like an awesome class. This run sounds like a big deal to your school. I would not know because running is just not in my vocabulary at the moment, although it should be. I have know idea what “the box” is but I am intrigued, and I will check back to see what all the fuss is about. Had fun reading your post! Bye!
