Today we kicked off the semester of Arkansas History by talking about geography. We had a brief review over the geographic regions of Arkansas and then we got a little bit messy. In preparation to create geographic maps of Arkansas, today students used salt, dough and water to create salt dough…the substance that we will be using to create models of Arkansas.

Students were asked to combine 170ml of flour and salt along with 100 – 110ml of water in a Ziplock Bag. After combing the materials in the bag students were then asked to mix everything together and get the mixture to correct consistency. Tomorrow in class we will take our mixtures and mold them into the shape of Arkansas…stay tuned.
