Today in class we held a discussion about the placebo effect. A placebo is often referred to as a sham medical intervention. This effect can also affect the results of scientific experiments as well. Today we discussed how the placebo effect can change the outcome of data.

Above is a short video that features an experiment that used a placebo effect. Groups of patients were given either real knee surgery or fake surgery. We used this video to help explain the role that placebo effect can play in an experiment….please feel free to watch and leave a comment.
