Students, below is a list of the vocabulary that we discussed in class on Tuesday.

• Cells – the basic unit of life and carry out basic functions (reproduce, consume energy, etc…)
• Robert Hooke – Was the first to discover cells. He discovered them in cork
• Anton van Leeuwenhoek – First to discover animal cells
• Cell Theory – Three German scientist developed the theory that cells make up all living things
• Compound Microscope – A microscope made up of two lenses. The first is near the specimen to magnify, the second is near the eye to enlarge the object
• Magnification – Making a small object larger
• Resolution – Another term for sharpness of an image
