On Wednesday, we began our conversations about the electromagnetic spectrum. The electromagnetic spectrum is composed of all the waves and rays that we come into contact on a regular basis. The spectrum is comprised of radio waves, microwaves, infrared rays, visible light, ultraviolet rays, x-rays, and gamma rays. We discussed their frequency and wave length along with how they are used in the world around us. In order to help us remember what these different type of waves and rays do, my students were asked to draw and label the spectrum on a piece of paper. After their spectrum was diagrammed out on their paper, students were then asked to draw a picture of a common use of that wave or ray. We we come back from spring break, we will begin to focus on the visible light spectrum specifically.
