9-11 attack

Today in class, like thousands across America, we will be observing the attacks of September 11th, 2001. As we move further and further away from the date of the original 9/11 attack on America, it becomes more important that we not only observe this day but also teach to our students exactly what happened on that day. For myself and others that were in school/work that day in September, the memory lives very vividly in our minds….and it is a memory that we have to try our best to relate to a generation of students that were either too young to fully realize what was going on or weren’t even born yet.

Today in class we will be spending some time discussing this event and it’s significance in has had on our lives. We will also be using an interactive website to add visuals to our conversation. The History Channel’s Website has a fantastic interactive map that displays different view points (eye-witness video) of the attacks from various buildings around the city. It is a very eye-opening way to view the attacks of 9/11 and provides a unique first person point of view. You can view the website site by clicking here.
