Lesson One – US Constitution Day

Sound familiar?

On this day 223 years ago, the United States Constitution was signed by 39 brave men or changed the course of history. Every year on September 17th, schools across the nation take part in Constitution Day. This is a day where we continue on the legacy left by our fore fathers by discussing the importance of this document. Today in my social studies class, we will be spending our class time discussing the importance of rules.

Lesson Two – Crazy Hat Day

hatWith the JDRF walk for a cure coming up tomorrow September 17th, Woodland is jumping on board with it’s annual crazy hat day fundraiser. Today students all over our school will be wearing their most creative piece of headgear to support a wonderful cause. Throughout the week students were asked to bring in one dollar to support JDRF and with that dollar they are allowed to wear their crazy hats today.

Lesson Three – Golden Sneakers 5k

While we are on the topic of JDRF, I would like to invite everyone to join our cross country team tomorrow at the annual JDRF Golden Sneakers 5k which is held at the The Gardens on the University of Arkansas campus. The 5k starts at 8am which is followed by a 5k walk that is free to participate in. After the running and walking is over, everyone is invited to stick around for music and free food…then after that you should probably watch the Arkansas v. Georgia game on TV, just a recommendation.
