Your artist of the week is Aloe Blacc.

Since this week we will be focusing on the almighty dollar (economy) our song of the week is titled “I need a dollar” performed by Aloe Blacc. Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III (born 1979), better known by his stage name Aloe Blacc is an American soul singer, rapper, and musician. His first album, entitled Shine Through, was released by Stones Throw Records in 2006. He began his career in 1995 as an MC in an indie rap group called Emanon. By the end of the 1990s, Blacc was a “stow away” on a Lootpack tour in Europe. His music contains elements of jazz, R&B, soul, and hip hop. He recorded a cover version of the John Legend song “Ordinary People” entitled “Gente Ordinaria”. His song “I Need a Dollar” is the intro song for the HBO show How to Make it in America. He is also working on a new album titled “Good Things” set to be released on September 14th, 2010. You can listen to this song by clicking on the link below.
