Some of the reasons for the Great Depression were: stock market crashed– meaning people got greedy and pulled out all at the same time; banks failed –they overextended themselves, they were not insured by the government; reduction of buying– their was overproduction, no need for workers; Smoot-Hawley Tariff– was high tax on import goods; drought– dust bowl, farmers were not able to provide for their families; Roaring 20’s– the economy was fanastic. Some effects of the Great Depression were regulation– is where the government backs up banks so if they crash people are not effected as much; New Deal– FDR’s plan to get us out of trouble; increase government– government will be more hands on; Urbanization– people moving into the cities; fruqal– people being cheap. Some things that we could have done differently are, we could of had a PLAN, we could of had a system of backing up banks if they failed so that people would not have lost as much money, banks could have been more carful with their money and how they spent it, in the Roaring 20’s peple were careless about how they spent their money; they could have watched what they were buying. That’s whats up with the Great Depression.
