27546_216273035618_2137_nWhat a great day for a run! Today marked the 36th annual Hogeye Marathon and Relays, and Woodland Cross Country was there today to represent. We were able to have a decent turnout of Woodland runners and for many of them this was the first competitive race they have ran since October…lots of praise and thanks to go around, so let’s get going by talking about the reasons to celebrate…

  • Austin Bittinger and Andrew Henry placed 6th and 7th overall in the 5k run with a time of 21:01 respectively. They also placed 1st and 2nd in their age group of 10-14.
  • Jacob Elser placed 14th overall and 3rd in the 10-14 age group with a time of 22:04.
  • 7th grade runner Jack Norys placed 48th overall with a time of 25:48 and 6th in his age group of 10-14.
  • Future cross country runner, and brother of Andrew, Charles Henry placed 17th overall and 4th in his age group of 10-14 with a time of 22:21.
  • Another future runner for next year, Lillie Eaton placed 110 overall and 4th in her age group of 10-14 with a time of 29:39…this was also her first 5k!
  • Your boy (me) placed 54th overall and 3rd in my age group of 25-29.
  • Tim Scarbrough finished his first half marathon today with a time of 1:50:19! He also placed 5th in his age group of 15-19…great job Tim!
  • Jake Gray finished his first half marathon today with a time of 2:06:37! He also placed 2nd in his age group of 14 and under…great job Jake!

Great job to everyone that competed today and big thanks to the parents for their support of all our runners in participating in this race. It was great to see Woodland well represented in such a manner. Our next race we will run in will be April 30th when we will be participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure…hope to see you there.
