Today in class we continued with our talk about civics and government by discussing debatable topics in American politics. Students were asked to develop a list political topics in America and after they composed their lists, we then began to discuss the topics and how they ultimately help decide what side of the political spectrum you fall on.

I introduced to my students a very simply political spectrum that would help them identify what their political leanings are. The test they took asked for their opinion on several different issues that included government spending, international affairs, abortion, etc. The Political Compass website provides a very similar test to what I gave my students in class today. If you would like to test your political views you can do so by clicking here.
